Hope Humanist Ministry: Reason for Hope

In this section of the website, we explore the spirituality that exists within all of us, regardless of our views on the existence of supernatural forces. Most of our feelings of spirituality and awe come from our experiences with nature, our interactions with loved ones, or from giving of ourselves and seeing the joy it brings to others. Whether we realize it or not, all of these experiences are humanistic in nature, because they all involve naturally occurring phenomena that are part of our humanity. While there is much yet that we do not understand about our world, and what forces (if any) exist beyond it, it seems appropriate that we come to a better understanding of ourselves and our own spiritual natures first.

Each week this section will be updated with a new Weekly Reflection. Each Reflection will be a talking point on a subject related to Humanism and/or Spirituality. In most cases, we will try to have more than one point of view presented, with contributions either from the Stewards, or from our clergy and members.

These talking points are presented for two purposes:

First, to engage the readers in thinking about the issue under discussion and, hopefully, to impel them toward seeking additional information about it on their own. We feel this is important because the quest for knowledge can be a spiritual journey of it’s own, with benefits that last a lifetime.
Secondly, to promote thoughtful discussion among our members through the forum, email, or any other suitable method. We encourage open, respectful debate, as it helps guide all of us to new understanding and increased awareness.
