Are you a Humanist?
Many people are humanists and don’t know it. Many more are aware that they hold humanist values and ideals, but do not have a way of expressing those values or working toward those ideals. Many humanists lack a place to go to interact with other humanists, or learn about and participate in humanist-related activities.
HHM’s primary purpose is to provide a home for humanists and any who would like to learn more about humanism. We accomplish this in several ways:
- By operating a humanist church and a humanist ministry.
- By providing open ordinations to anyone who is committed to the ideals of humanism and would like to express that commitment through serving their community as a Humanist Minister.
- By engaging in humanist-oriented projects and activities. These will include everything from disaster relief to promoting environmental responsibility, and most importantly, advocating for reasonable and peaceful solutions to world problems.
- By promoting the use of Reason in religion, as well as in all other aspects of our lives. Understanding the historical and very human roots of most religious thought can help stem the tide of extremism that is causing so much strife in our world. The path to peace is through REASON and scientific discovery.
- To lead by example. Using the ministry and open ordinations as a form of education and outreach, HHM’s primary goal is to not just “preach” humanism, but LIVE it. It is our firm belief that each of us must “walk the walk” before we “talk the talk”.
